WHAT'S A BACKHAUL
SERVICE?
A backhaul service transports you upstream, where you will embark on your paddling journey. We transport you and your group up the Colorado River from Lees Ferry Boat Launch. Your trip is completely customizable, you can ask your captain to let you off at any point along the route to accommodate your preferred paddling duration, even if it's just for a couple of hours. Petroglyph Beach is a great starting point, offering views of ancient petroglyphs and views from the iconic horseshoe bend. For added convienence, we offer several time slot options for shuttles starting at 6AM- 1PM
NEED a ' YAK? Say Less.
We offer guests a variety of boat options to choose from to further customize your trip needs. Guests can choose from the following: hardshell sit-in kayaks, stable inflatable kayaks, stand up paddle boards (SUPs), and canoes. Not sure which option will best fit your needs? This is our 5th kayaking trip with Kayak the Colorado. I can't wait to go back and use their services again! I don't write many reviews but Kayak the Colorado definitely deserves all five stars. Shaun and Dale have always been a pleasure to book with and have gone above and beyond for me and friends (2-12 people) every single time! Our boat captains have always provided us with abundant knowledge about the canyon and river with awesome tips to help us find and enjoy all the best spots. The boat captains (Tim and Tyler) provide excellent service and never miss a beat. Glen Canyon and the Colorado River are truly magical. Thank you, Kayak the Colorado, for another adventure!

Fantastic experience from start to finish! This section of the Colorado has been on our bucket list for years and everything about this trip went smoothly. Reservations were easy, instructions were very specific, kayaks (we requested hard shells) were in good condition and staff was great. Highly recommend. My brother & I spent 3 days/2 nights on the Colorado. Used ‘Kayak the Colorado’ for the back haul to launch site just below Glen Canyon Dam. Prior to booking reservation I phoned with numerous questions. Person I spoke with patiently & politely answered all questions and provided additional advice. Luke (boat captain) was prompt, polite and obviously knowledgeable about that section of the Colorado River. He periodically slowed or stopped to point out areas of interest we might want to explore plus shared interesting/entertaining river stories. We’ll definitely use Kayak the Colorado for our next excursion.
